OSRS Merlin's Crystal Quest Guide

Merlin’s crystal is the first quest in the Camelot quest series. It involves the player rescuing the wizard Merlin from a crystal. It gives the most quest points of any other quest required for Recipe for Disaster.

General Questing recommendations

• Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your RuneLite plugin section. 
• Hold your space bar to skip through NPC dialog, and use number keys for chatting dialog. 

Item Requirements for Merlin’s Crystal

Normal accounts can buy all items from the Grand Exchange.

• Bread
• Tinderbox
• Bucket of wax
• Bat bones

Obtaining the required items on an Ironman

• Bread: This can be purchased from the food store in Port Sarim.
• Tinderbox: Can be bought from a general store.
• Bucket of wax: A bucket of wax is obtained by using insect repellent on a beehive in the apiary south of Seers' Village, west of Catherby, then using a bucket on the beehive.
• Bat bones: Bats can be killed to obtain these

Walkthrough for Merlin’s Crystal

• Talk to King Arthur in Camelot Castle to start. Reply 1, 1 to start the quest.

• Talk to Sir Gawain shown above about how Merlin got trapped. Reply 3. 
• Go upstairs to talk to Lancelot. Reply 3.

• Leave the castle, get your combat gear, food, and hide in Arhein’s crate behind the candle maker’s shop in Catherby.

• Go up the stairs in the fortress.

• Go up another floor.
• Attack Sir Mordred down to 0 hp to cause Morgan Le Faye to spawn.

• Go through Morgan Le Faye’s dialog. Reply 1. Note that if you exit from this dialog, you will have to fight Mordred again.
• Return to Catherby. If you still need bat bones, you can kill one of the bats just outside the fortress.
• If you still need wax, go grab the insect repellant in a house in North Catherby. Otherwise, get your wax out.
• Talk to the Candle Maker in Catherby. Reply 1, then talk to him again until he gives you a black candle.

• Talk to the Lady of the Lake in Taverley with bread in your inventory. Reply 3.

• Attempt to enter the jewellery store in Port Sarim. Reply 1.

• Check the altar in the Zamorak temple in southeast Varrock. Talk to the beggar who appears and give him some bread. 

• Return to Camelot
• Go stand in the star symbol northeast of Camelot Castle.

• Light the black candle with your tinderbox by using the tinderbox on the black candle.
• Right-click to drop the bat bones in the star.
• Say the Spell “Snarthon Candtrick Termanto. Be careful not to click the wrong option, or you will have to get another black candle. 
• Go up the ladder in the southeast of Camelot Castle.

• Go up the next ladder.
• Smash the Giant crystal with Excalibur equipped.

• Tell King Arthur you have freed Merlin to complete the quest.
