OSRS Waterfall Quest Guide: Beginner-friendly Walkthrough

OSRS Waterfall Quest Guide: Beginner-friendly Walkthrough

Waterfall Quest is an exciting free-to-play quest centered around a hidden treasure in Baxtorian Falls. The quest involves navigating past high-level monsters—level 86 Fire Giants and level 84 Moss Guardians—without equipment, so low-level or hardcore Ironman players should take caution. Fire Giants can hit up to 11, and Moss Guardians hit up to 14, so having at least 20 HP is recommended.

This quest has no skill or quest requirements, making it accessible to all beginners.

General Questing Tips

  • Enable RuneLite Quest Helper in your plugin section.
  • Hold the space bar to quickly skip NPC dialogue.
  • Use number keys to select dialogue options efficiently.

Time to Complete: I finished it in about 7 minutes. If you’re lower-level or not fully prepared, expect it to take a bit longer since the combat can be risky.

Item Requirements for Waterfall Quest

  • 6 Air runes
  • 6 Earth runes
  • 6 Water runes
  • Rope

Ironman Tips:

  • Air, Earth, and Water runes can be purchased from Aubury’s Rune Shop in Varrock.
  • Rope can be bought from any general store.

  • Food: Salmon or similar for low HP accounts
  • Games Necklace: Teleport to Barbarian Outpost. I suggest you craft these early especially on ironman.
  • Skills Necklace: Teleport to Fishing Guild
  • 20+ Hitpoints
  • Stamina potion: A bit of running in this quest so this helps.
  • Ring of dueling

Walkthrough of Waterfall Quest

Start the Quest

Bring: a rope

Recommended: Games necklace to teleport to start the quest

  • If you have a Games Necklace, teleport to Barbarian outpost and run south to Almera's house, indicated by the quest icon in the image below. Talk to Almera and choose 1 during the dialogue.

  • She’ll explain that her son, Hudson, went treasure hunting and hasn’t returned, and she asks you to go check on him.

Board the Raft

  • Head west of Almera to the raft and interact with Hudson. He refuses your help and continues his treasure hunt.

Cross the Waterfall

  • Use a rope on the rock to swim across; do not click “Swim” or you’ll be sent downstream.
  • Use your rope on the dead tree to descend the waterfall.
  • Once you’re at the ledge, just left-click the barrel to hop inside safely.

Find Glarial’s Pebble

  • Enter the building north of the waterfall and climb the ladder.

  • Search the bookcase and grab the Book of Baxtorian — make sure you actually read it, since you’ll need that for the next part.

Getting Glarial's amulet

Recommended: food to tank hits from Hobgoblins and Games necklace to teleport to next section, ring of dueling or Ardougne teleport and Games necklace to start next section

  • Teleport to Castle wars with ring of dueling then run northeast to the Tree Gnome Village maze shown in map below. Alternatively, you use an Ardougne teleport then head south. If you’ve already done the Tree Gnome Village quest, just use the Spirit Tree or talk to Elkoy to skip the maze. If not, follow the path shown in the image to get through it the long way.

  • Climb down the ladder inside the maze and search the north-eastern crate highlighted below to grab the key. Try to avoid the hobgoblins down there, or just eat some food if you take a few hits.

  • Use the key on the northwestern door, talk to Golrie, and he’ll give you Glarial’s Pebble. Hold onto it — you’ll need it later.

Raid Glarial’s Tomb

  • Teleport to the Barbarian Outpost. Bank everything except your pebble, food, stamina potions, and a games necklace for a quick exit. Note that no armour is allowed in the next area,

  • Head to Glarial's tombstone, east of Baxtorian Falls indicated by the quest icon below and use your pebble on it to enter the cave.

Glarial's tombstone

  • Once you’re inside the cave, be careful of the high-level monsters. You can either run past them while eating or tag a low-level skeleton or zombie first—this prevents the Moss Guardian from targeting you. This is especially important for low-level accounts since Moss Guardians can hit up to 14 and could one-shot you.

  • Head to the western room and search the chest to grab Glarial’s amulet. Then go south to Glarial’s tomb and search the coffin for his urn. Just a heads-up: searching the coffin can’t be interrupted, so you can’t eat or teleport while doing it, and monsters can still attack. To stay safe, it’s best to tag a low-level enemy before going in so the Moss Guardian doesn’t continuously hit you.

Collect the Baxtorian Treasures

  • Bring back 6 Air, 6 Earth, 6 Water runes, Glarial’s Amulet, Urn with some food
  • Return to Almera’s house and board the raft. Use the rope on the large grey rock on the small patch of land downstream, then use the rope on the dead tree to climb down. Once you reach the waterfall ledge, equip Glarial's amulet, then open the door to enter the falls.

entering waterfall

  • Take the eastern passage first and search the highlighted crates to get the key. After that, head north through the western passage.
  • I did this quest on a 10 HP account (shown below), and it’s very doable. To get past the Fire Giants safely, tag a Shadow Spider or even a rat first — this stops the Fire Giants from attacking you. On busy worlds, it’s even easier since other players training here keep the giants distracted. I’d actually recommend a busy world for low-level accounts, because Fire Giants can easily one-hit a 10 HP account.

Waterfall cave

The Waterfall cave

  • Use 1 Air, 1 Water, and 1 Earth rune on each of the six pillars shown below
  • Use Glarial’s Amulet on the statue of Glarial.
  • Place Glarial’s Urn on the chalice to complete the quest.
