OSRS Magic Training Guide: Leveling 1-99 Fastest For F2P

Magic is a versatile and essential skill in OSRS. It’s a good alternative to ranged for safe spotting monsters and can be used to teleport across the map since there are no tablet teleports in F2P.

Fastest Methods of Training Magic in F2P

Quests: Level 1 -10

  • Imp Catcher: this quest is quite easy and short. Players are awarded 875 magic XP after its completion
  • Witch’s Potion: this quest is also short and awards 325 magic XP upon completion.

Completing all these quests gives players a total XP of 1,200 magic XP, taking them from levels 1 to 10.

Level 10-17: Casting Strike Spells

Strike spells are the best elemental combat spells in the standard spellbook between these levels Players should switch combat spells accordingly and use elemental staves to cut costs and auto-cast the spell instead of manually clicking the spell and then on the enemy.

  • Earth strikeAt level 9: Earth strike
  • Fire strikeAt level 13: Fire strike

Players should cast the strike spells on low-level enemies. Here are some examples:

  • Cows: Cows are level 2 monsters found at several locations in F2P. The Lumbridge East Farm is one of the most popular locations for killing them, as there are 23 spawns of cows in this location. It is also quite profitable, players can make up to 75,000 GP per hour depending on their combat level by tanning the cowhides dropped by the cows.

  • Goblins: this is one of the most common low-level monsters found in Gielenor. Up to 121 spawns are found in Lumbridge, and they can be easily killed.

  • Other low-level monsters to train with are spiders and ducks.

Level 17–41: Casting Bolt Spells

Bolt spells are the second-weakest elemental group of magic combat spells in the standard spellbook. At level 17, players can start to use Wind Bolt. To improve your XP rates, change the combat spell accordingly as your magic level increases.

  • Wind boltAt level 17: Wind bolt
  • Water boltAt level 23: Water bolt
  • Earth boltAt level 29: Earth bolt
  • Fire boltAt level 35: Fire bolt

You should start to attack stronger enemies with this spell to get better XP rates. Here are some examples:

  • Hill giants: There are about 12 spawns of hill giants found in the Edgeville dungeon, they drop big bones and limpwurt roots, making it quite profitable.
  • Lesser Demon: There is a lesser demon found in the Wizards’ Tower, he drops runes and other valuables, but telekinetic grab (35 magic) is required to collect the drops.
  • Other monsters to train with are: Al kharid warriors in Al Kharid, Hobgoblins in Edgeville dungeon, and skeletons found in Varrock sewers.

Level 41-99: Casting Blast Spells

Blast spells are a part of the elemental group of Magic combat spells in the standard spellbook. Players should change the blast spells accordingly as their magic level increases,

  • Wind BlastAt level 41: Wind Blast
  • Water blastAt level 47: Water blast
  • Earth BlastAt level 53: Earth Blast
  • Fire BlastAt level 59: Fire Blast

At this level, you should start to kill stronger and more profitable monsters.

Level 41–59: Killing Moss Giants

Moss Giants are large creatures found in areas that are tied to nature. Killing them gives good magic XP rates, and they also have some good drops. They drop big bones and several runes for F2P players. They can be hit fairly often and can’t hit often if you have good defence stats.

The best location to kill Moss giants is at the Varrock Sewers, there are 10 spawns located in this area.

Level 59–99: Killing Ice Giants and Warriors in the Asgardian Ice Dungeon and casting High Alchemy

Ice giants are tall, light-blue creatures while Ice warriors are the mid-level elemental warrior, they both are found in certain icy areas in the game. The best spot to kill them is in the Asgardian Ice Dungeon, located at the Mudskipper point. At level 59, players can start to use Fire Blast. This is the strongest spell available in F2P, the Ice giants and Ice Warriors are also weak to its damage, with the maximum damage reaching up to 32.

Players will gain up to 70,000 magic XP from killing the Ice giants and warriors with full attention. It’s also possible to safespot them, so no food is needed. High level alchemy can also be cast while training with this method, for an extra 78,000 magic XP per hour, improving XP rates to 148,000 magic XP per hour.

Alternative Monsters to Kill for Magic XP

Ankou in Stronghold of Security

Ankou

Ankou is a popular monster that players kill for combat training. They give good magic XP rates and can be safespotted behind the skeleton remains in the southwest room of the Sepulchre of Death floor. The best spell to use is Crumble Undead. It is recommended to use Skull Sceptre (i) as it can auto-cast crumble undead. However, it does not save any runes. Crumble undead is cheaper than blast spells, making it a good alternative for players looking for cheaper methods.

Ogress Warriors in Corsair Cove Dungeon

Ogress warriors

Killing these monsters is ideal for players who are looking to make a good profit while training. They drop arrows, runes, gems, and armour. However, Ogress Warriors have high magic and ranged defence, so at least 60 magic is recommended. Blast spells are the best combat spell to use against them, you should also cast high alchemy spells on the alchable items you pick to save inventory space.

Other alternatives are:

  • Lesser demons (level 82) located in Karamja dungeon,
  • Flesh Crawlers (levels 41, 35, 28) in the Catacomb of Famine in the Stronghold of Security
  • Spiders (level 24) in the Pit of Pestilence in Stronghold of Security
  • Giant Spiders (level 50) in the Pit of Pestilence in Stronghold of Security
  • Guards (level 21) .in the Ground floor, 1st floor, and 2nd floor in Varrock Castle

Enchantment spell F2P
